Interests
Interests include computing technologies, educational software, I thought I liked gardening but I now realise that I like sitting in beautiful peaceful gardens.
Employment
Current Employment - I work for a local school managing their IT department for two days a week because I live about 700 yards from the school I probably spend much more than my two days there nurturing and caring for their computers. I have taken them from three computers to nearly 80 computers. This has all been done on a very tight budget, believe me.
I am a bit of an idealist when it comes to education computing requirements so I may harp on a little about the perfect build. I have started a page called The Perfect School Computer. I would love feedback of what software you feel should be available.
I firmly believe that technology in the school and classroom should be better and more advanced than it is in the home, certainly for primary and middle school. My expectation is that kids should be taking technology home, not bringing it to school and if they are bringing it to school I need to learn from them and improve the perfect school computer.
I teamed up the The Early Birds Group I find that waking up early, and using a routine to be successful. All I have to do now is stay focused and interested in one subject at a time. :) LOL
I teamed up with the Learnitology Group early on in the course. We are looking at collaborative learning and content management systems. I guess this is a fairly vast area. Because of different Time Zones I feel I have not been able to participate in this group.

I would love to get together with some of you to see how you are doing (and to check that I am not falling behind). If you need any help please give me a call.
I welcome any comments about this page. Enjoy the course.

Digital Learning Platforms Core ITC Requirements in the Home, Classroom and Online The Perfect School Computer Basic Requirements Every School should have The School Computer Club Using the Computer Club to Teach ITC and maintain the School Infrastructure Do IT Now - Suggestions about Teaching and using ITC in the classroom Right Here Right Now! The DVD Player - Creative use in Education - This is an interesting page, I think, and has a lot of potential. It is about using complex menuing systems to create interactive DVDs. The storyboard unfolds and each menu selection reveals a separate and distinct menu. Of course, there is media being played at every level, MP3's, WMA's, VOBS. This could be an excellent way to create yearbooks, class projects as well as interactive games. I guess DVD menu systems haven't been fully explored. Sound and Vision
2 Pages I have contributed too - I am so sure there were more pages?
My strategy for "facilitating" the page and making it the most useful learning environment for the group
I am going to take an active interest in other people's pages and contribute by making constructive comments and by actively searching for relevant data which might assist them and myself. I have considered doing a blog and might just talk myself into that as well.
Any problems I foresee
I have too many interests and ideas and I am going to need to choose one of my facilitated pages and focus on that. The problem is though they all interest me.
Anything else I believe is important -
Yes, do you have any suggestions for me to work on?
Assignment 3 Information
I have added my A3 info for those who are interested - 20th October 2006
I wish to investigate and document a systematic approach of introducing new media and emerging technologies into a small school.
Two major components of my initiative will be the Dynamic School Website (CMS) and The School Club Website (CMS or LMS).
● Selecting a CMS and implementing a Dynamic School Website.
● Selecting a CMS / LMS and implementing a School Club Website.
After the initial investigation and possible introduction of the both components the document will focus on ways of encouraging active participation by staff and students and investigate ways of transferring ownership of these technologies to the various departments within the school.
My inquiries thus far would indicate that the following school clubs would consider using a CMS / LMS platform if one was provided.
● The Computer Club
● The Robotics Club – active
● Gifted and Talented - active
● The Technology Group
● The Drama Group - active
● The Aeronautics Club - starting next year
● The PE Teacher (not sure how this will be used, presumably sports, news and photos).
My paper will draw largely on resource within KG and will suggest that School Club Facilitators and members are most likely to contribute (at least initially) to a healthy collaborative environment. It is expected that the final paper will be read by the Head and Deputy Head Mistresses of my school.
I expect to be evaluated on my written work and research, however should either proposed website be established within the course time frame I would like successful outcomes considered for evaluation.
It is expected that my paper / research will address the following topics.
● Proposal
● User Acceptance / Endorsement.
● Implementation (the possible implementation of one or both websites)
● Teaching and Training
● Supporting and Growing the Community.
● Handover and Management
● Review
